Flopper has decided that he prefers the Penthouse.
We allowed him to explore the upstairs one day and he decided he wanted to stay. So now he lounges in our bedroom all day long. 
He's been very polite about using the litter box we provided. He's also been very considerate about not chewing things and making a mess. I think that somehow he knows that if he isn't a good guest he'll get kicked out. At bedtime he has to go downstairs to his pen, where he enjoys his evening meal and spends the night with his nosy neighbors.
